Unlike most spectrum analyzers, the -sndan- package is designed specifically for musical sounds. Tools such as period-synchronous harmonic analysis with phase-determined frequency; nonsynchronous analysis with spectral-peak-determined frequency; Postscript/Tek4014 graphics; and additive sinewave synthesis, running under ordinary C code, facilitate versatility of use and ease of code modification. The aural effect of spectral modifications can be heard soon after making them.
