Two natural phenomena connected with the excitation of acoustic waves by moving the loudspeaker diaphragm are considered: 1) effect of a moving boundary condition traditionally named the Doppler effect; and 2) effect of nonlinear propagation of acoustic waves. In this paper, it is shown that distortions caused by nonlinear propagation have negligible magnitude; and that an improved expression for the coefficient of Doppler-type distortions is derived. A concept of an anti-Doppler filter is presented.
