This paper presents a method, based on the Huygens' principle, for computing the sound propagation in a horn. Starting from a wavefront in the throat, the equal-phase contours of the forward propagating wave are computed, and these in turn are used to compute the amplitude distribution in the horn. The acoustical behavior, e.g. the radiation pattern of the horn, can be computed from this data. The computed wavefront can be used to divide the actual horn into narrow elementary horns, for which a planewave model can be regarded to be a good approximation. Thus impedance at the throat can be computed. The method can be applied to various geometries and boundary conditions.
