A system is presented which embeds digital codes into an audio signal. These codes may be used for control and administration of broadcast, studio, and manufacturing operations. The essential requirements are that the codes are inaudible and survive any duplication or transmission media, whether analog or digital. Digital and audio processing techniques are employed to ensure that the system meets these requirements.
