MASC coding employs an efficient parametric coding technique using psychoacoustic optimization algorithm. However, by introducing an additional strategy that allocates the number of excitation pulses within the sub-band set based upon instantaneous power, an additional coding advantage is obtained. This paper discusses the optimized adaptive pulse allocation algorithm and the results obtained through simulation.
