Directions for Qualified Loudspeaker Evaluations

Document Thumbnail

Loudspeaker evaluation methods in use today consist mainly of SPL measurements and subjective descriptions of sound quality. Phase errors and impulse distortion, however, can be detected only by using square wave signals. The time has come to introduce this measurement criteria, as loudspeakers are now available which are capable of the proper acoustical reproduction of square wave signals. The most common technical and acoustical errors will be outlined in this lecture.
