A compact disc (CD) containing test signals can be one of the most useful tools for audio and acoustics measurement by virtue of its superior characteristics, i.e. signal precision, signal generating stability, versatility for signal generation, compactness, and low cost. An investigation is made into the future requirements of signals for test CDs. The composition of a practical test CD will be discussed.
