In any audio application, the switching of digital filters can cause severe problems. In this paper, strategies are presented that avoid disturbing acoustic effects as well as the occurrence of instability. It is shown that the proposed strategies can be generalized for all kinds of filters. Results of an implementation are given under both heuristic and theoretical aspects.
