Long finite-impulse response (FIR) filters are becoming more commonplace in audio processing. This paper presents an efficient method for creating FIR filter coefficients for a 30-band graphic equalizer with well-controlled magnitude and phase properties. By using this synthesis technique, along with an efficient FIR filter implementation, the entire 30-band equalizer can be implemented on a single DSP processor.
