Parametric filters use separate and noninteracting controls to change bandwidth, center frequency, and cut or boost levels of an acoustic signal. These filters are a generalization of graphic equalizer filters which can permit gain adjustment of a channelized filter bank composed of filters with fixed bandwidths and center frequencies. This paper describes and demonstrates the performance of a digital signal processing based realization of a parametric filter.
