The predictions of SPL from an array and/or distributed loudspeaker systems have been performed using power or single frequency phasor (complex) summation of the sound-pressure contributions. For truly representative predictions, the sound-pressure magnitude and phase must be included in the prediction, but a single frequency complex summation may be misleading. This paper discusses a different complex summation procedure. Comparisons are made between measured and predicted SPLs for different system configurations.
