Through wave synthesis (virtual) sound sources can be placed in another position other than the actual transducer(s). This quality has been used for a new monitor system for two or three channel stereo. To decrease the influence of room acoustics, the actual transducers are placed near the listener, while the apparent (virtual) sources are positioned at a large distance to create a large-distance triangle. Because of its flat shape it combines ideally with audio control desks.
