The development of real time audio effects and processors for Digital Signal Processors requires solutions to problems such as multitasking, routing, I/O, and control, as well as algorithms for particular processors. Existing Operating Systems for general purpose DSP are not optimised for audio applications. ARTOS has been optimised specifically for multichannel audio processing on floating point DSPs.
