This paper describes a newly designed horn driver using an alternative topology. The proposed geometry of the horn driver's moving assembly consists of a diaphragm having an -apple top- profile supported at the diaphragm's center in place of using conventional outer rim suspension. Besides radiating sound energy into the horn's throat, the diaphragm's body also performs the function of a suspension. The traditional phase plug is not employed. The topology provides high-power capacity, good linearity, and wide bandwidth.
