A new analytical technique for designing quasi-perfect reconstruction filter banks for digital audio coding applications is proposed. Two examples of digital audio processing that use this kind of filter banks are presented: a high-fidelity digital audio compressor whose filter bank simulates the nonlinear behavior of the auditory system, and a voice encryption system.
