The Response of Loudspeakers to Tone Bursts

Document Thumbnail

A loudspeaker, like msot electromechanical devices, is typically tested under steady state sine wave conditions. While tested under open loop conditions, it is used under transient closed loop conditions. The subtle aspects of quality performance are not accurately evaluated by test methods currently used. The problem is not one of quality control but of engineering evaluation. The tone burst has been found to display marked differences in reproduction quality as a function of loudspeaker suspensions, damping and baffle conditions.
