This paper describes a compact digital signal processing system that processes all signals transmitted from a mixing console to power amplifiers in the digital domain. It consists of a control section with the LCD display, and modules newly developed include an ADC, a DAC, a graphic equalizer, and channel divider provided with digital delays for time alignment between driver units. Commands from the control section through a serial communication bus activate each individual module having DSP chips, an MPU and a filter coefficient ROM. The digital signal format between modules is 32 bits serial, allowing for future high-bits ADCs and DACs. Not only can the system operate independently, but it can also be externally controlled through the RS-232C interface by using a personal computer.
