Acoustic holography aims at the reconstruction of acoustic waves field from microphone signals in a fully natural way, i.e. with preservation of its temporal and spatial properties. In the context of auditorium acoustics, the holographic concept can be used to: 1) Reinforce the direct sound with full maintenance of true source localization, and 2) create variable reflection patterns to match the acoustic conditions of a hall with the type of performance. In this paper, the principles of acoustic holography will be summarized. It will be shown how the concept can be used to realize acoustic control for direct as well as for reflected (reverberant) sound.
