Creativity is the driving force behind our industries-but imagination is limited by what is technically possible and what is economically viable. This paper discusses how the integration of Solid State Logic's HarrySound into the Quantel Harry Suite increases creativity, quality, and cost-effectiveness while avoiding obsolescence so new production methods and working practices evolve. The methods of working discussed in the paper currently apply to video production, although the program material may be originated on either video or film. Full implementation of such a system in film production awaits further developments. However, some of the ideas discussed have applications in film/video conforming techniques and audio postproduction for film.
