Video Sweetening Basics for Audio Engineers

Document Thumbnail

This preprint contains the key information presented at the 1989 Workshop "Video Sweetening Basics for Audio Engineers." It will, briefly, introduce readers to technical concepts encountered in audio-for-video production (video sweetening, mixing to picture, ADR, etc.) that have not traditionally been seen in the recording studio. These concepts include video basics, timecode, and synchronization, and are fundamental when working with both multitrack tape and random access editing systems. Also included are methods for accomplishing procedures and avoiding hazards, that are unique to working with sound and picture on video.
