For multi-way loudspeakers to reproduce faithful waveforms, simultaneous satisfaction of "in-phase" and "linear-phase" conditions is strongly required. In this paper, an approach to develop a two-way loudspeakers system with digital FIR filters to satisfy these requirements is discussed. An application of 512-tap digital FIR filters and digital delay processing showed quite satisfactory results. The coefficient data of the FIR filters are given as the convolution output between a channel dividing filter and the inverse filter to a driving loudspeaker unit (woofer or tweeter). This paper gives guideline specifications for multiway loudspeaker systems with digital FIR filters.
