The Audibility of Loudspeaker Phase Distortion

Document Thumbnail

Digital equalization of the loudspeaker transfer function enables separation of amplitude and phase response correction processors. Since dynamic loudspeakers exhibit in general a phase response having complicated form, the equalization process allows for the independent audition of phase distortion that is dissimilar from the responses of simple all-pass filters. Preliminary results are presented, derived using real time DSP operating to full CD format.
