A microcomputer is used to set levels, simulating decisions by an experienced recording engineer. In conjunction with a new digital metering system, that monitors peak as well as average signal levels, recording levels ma be set automatically. This setting can be overridden by a predetermined factor, or fully manually controlled using the level meter.
