A new Reverberation and Sound Enhancement System (RSES) employing digital signal processors, specialized software, and very careful attention to hardware choice and installation is described. The system produces a dense, uncolored reverberant field in all areas of the theatre, and especially under the balcony. All reverberation parameters are software-programmable. Control of reverberation parameters, and interfacing with show sound/lighting systems & live performers, is facilitated by a MIDI network. Enhancement inputs are provided for PA, underbalcony reinforcement, sound effects, and film surround sound.
