An algorithm to time-scale audio signals in real-time based on pitch-shifting is presented. The pitch-shifter is based on the modified short-time Fourier transform (STFT) a la Griffin and Lim, and resampling in the frequency domain. While the magnitude of the modified STFT is specified in the problem, the short-time phase is determined by an error minimization criterion. The problem of efficiently computing this phase is discussed.
