A Computer Aided Environment for the Design of Digital Audio Products

Document Thumbnail

The design of a digital audio product can be very challenging, since it requires activities in a variety of engineering areas. These activities can include development of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms, DSP hardware design, the design and implementation of Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) and the creation of software for programmable DSP microprocessors. It is also critical to exhaustively audition and test a product design before beginning the implementation of an expensive ASIC, complex Printed Circuit Board(PCB) or large software program. This paper describes a workstation software/hardware system that eases the design, simulation, real-time prototyping, teseting and implementation of digital audio products. The design and real-time prototyping of a digital reverberation system is used to demonstrate the environment.
