Application of Computer Simulation and Scale Model Testing to Room Acoustical Design

Document Thumbnail

The computer simulation based on ray-tracing algorism and the scale model testings (optical/acoustical) are both used in our acoustical design. The computer simulation and the optical scale model testing (1/50) are used to study the fundamental room shape during the conceptual and schematic design phases. The acoustical scale model testing (1/10) is used to study the final room shape in detail during the early stage of the construction phase. As an example of the application of the simulation technique to our acoustical design, the study of the room shape and the reflector of the new concert hall in Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space is introduced.
