Computer Simulation for Acoustic Visualization

Document Thumbnail

A method for generating the sound energy data needed for visual acoustical analyses of large spaces is presented. A deterministic ray tracing technique for approximating the current density at each surface in a descretized environment is first described. Monte Carlo methods are then used to make the implementation simpler and reduce the storage requirements as well as the time required for complex calculations. Theoretical and practical extensions to the model are discussed. A global visualization of computer generated acoustical data well be presented at the meeting.
