Why a Digital Movieola Alone Will Not Cut It

Putting a human in space was a stunning achievement. But the astronauts were unable to accomplish any real work until the infrastructure existed to support them. Similarly, replacing the Moviola with a digital editing device was thought to be the answer to every editor's prayers. As such devices have become available those prayers have proven to include a myriad of other elements. The editor must be given a more complete set of tools if we able to advance the art and science of sound editing for film and video.
