A single equation describes the high frequency, wavelength dependent effects of azimuth errors, playback head gap lengths, and switching field distribution (SFD) recording zones. By solving for each contribution separately with common phase coordinates, the problem is reduced to a simple combined solution. This solution has proven useful in practical application. The results are aggregated with other losses to form a total loss equation. A modification to the accepted form for azimuth loss computation is also discussed.
