Spaciousness Enhancement of Stereo Reproduction Using Spectral Stereo Techniques

Document Thumbnail

A two-channel signal processing system employing Spectral Stereo filtering is described which facilitates the addition of early lateral reflections, with variable delays and amplitudes, to normal stereo reproductions without necessitating auxiliary loudspeakers. Consequently, the possibility emerges of considerably enhancing the spaciousness of standard stereo reconstructions through appropriate control of the delays and amplitudes of the virtual lateral reflections, either at the recording/post-processing/broadcasting stage, or in the domestic audio system.
