Real-Time Digital Distortion Analyzer

Document Thumbnail

A real-time digital distortion analyzer has been designed to measure total harmonic distortion and noise in audio signals derived from digital sources such as analog-to-digital converters, compact disc players, digital audio tape recorders, and sample rate converters. The analyzer uses a frequency detector to control a notch filter which removes the test sine-wave or twin-tone signal between 10Hz and 20kHz. The remaining amplified total harmonic distortion and noise signal is computed and applied to a monitor digital-to-analog converter.
