The paper examines the acoustical interaction between the drivers of a two-way loudspeaker with various crossover network alignments and system geometries in an attempt to find out the design criteria to achieve a smoothly changing energy response with given system geometry and crossover frequency. The paper introduces numerical methods for computing the radiated power and compares the data against that measured from an experimental loudspeaker system. In addition to normal non-coincident direct-radiator systems, also coaxial loudspeakers and combinations of direct-radiator woofers and horn tweeters are analyzed.
