The Motorola DSP56401 is a low cost, digital audio transceiver chip compatible with the AES-EBU and EIAJ CP-340 digital audio transmission standards. When used with a DSP56001 digital signal processor and DSP56351 sigma-delta A/D-D/A converters, it provides a software controlled, minimum chip digital audio system. This paper describes the architecture, software drivers and clock recovery of the DSP56401 integrated circuit.
