PC-based measuring system for acoustical scale model testing is presented and the advantage and the limitation of binaural hearing by using the system are discussed through our experience of acoustical design of auditoriums. The audition check of the detrimental echoes by the binaural reproduction of the impulse response is one of the main items of the test. A presentation of synthesized music and speech, which obtained by the convolution of the impulse response and a dry-source, has been found insufficient in fidelity to estimate the acoustics of an auditorium.
