Binaural Auralization from a Sound System Simulation Program

Document Thumbnail

This paper discusses an improved auralization program that utilizes measured human binaural hearing characteristics to generate a more realistic binaural audible simulation. The new auralization program EARS (for Electronically Auralized Room Simulation) works in conjunction with EASE and EASEPORT, acoustic simulation programs developed and owned by the authors. When used in conjunction with data derived from a sound system simulation program, audible simulation (auralization) provides an additional important tool for the acoustic designer. Once perfected, it will allow consultants, system designers, sound contractors and their clients to listen to the acoustic performance of a room and its associated sound reinforcement system before the room is built.
