A set of three pressure transducers, flush-mounted on the surface of a cylindrical or egg-shape solid, is a sophisticated development from the Stereophonic Pickup System using Baffled Pressure Microphones presented by the author in 1986 (Montreux 80th Conv.). It provides smooth directional characteristics for each microphone with minimal diffractive effects, and allows a 360 degrees sampling of the surrounding acoustic field, its stereophonic image being adjustable through an appropriate matrixing. Size and shape of the solid and several microphone arrangements are discussed, and results of measurements and experimentation are presented.
