A professional use 2-channel digital audio tape recorder has been newly developed, adopting the improved signal format which has been introduced at the 79th AES Convention. To cope with increasing demands for 2-channel recorders, a 12 multitrack head and several custom LSIs for signal processing have been developed and utilized. This paper describes specifications, a block diagram, signal processing and the performance of this recorder.
