Greater attention has been paid to the important role of control room acoustics in recording studios. An acoustic designer must have more flexibility in designing to cope with an increasing variety of requirements or demands by clients, especially mixing engineers. This paper describes basic control room design techniques the authors have successfully applied to studios in Japan and abroad, including wave analysis and optimum acoustic material selection.
