Using Digital Signal Processor Chips in a Stereo Audio Time Compressor/Expander

The architecture of a high fidelity Time Compressor which uses four TMS32010 Digital Signal Processing chips operating on the audio is described. Applications of this device include changes in running time of prerecorded material with no change to perceived pitch, and high quality pitch shifting. Aspects of the chips discussed include programming power and constraints, the suitability of emulators and logic analyzers, and the ancillary circuitry.
