This paper outlines aspects of digital audio consoles and associated equipment in the light of the now considerable operational experience available, and discusses pointers towards the future. In particular, the rapid progress of technology and the effect upon development and systems considerations are discussed, providing an overview of how drastically the digital studio will change in the future.
