For the construction of system hardware, real time ADPCM audio encoder/decoder, -YUV video encoder/decoder, and simulator have been designed and constructed. System software, utility items have been developed, including the multimedia handling software making full use of the UNIX operating system and structure-conversion software used for converting information into the CD-I file structure, etc. These programs have been written in the C language.
