The Control of Sound Reradiation with Constant Sound Intensity Helicoids

Document Thumbnail

This paper presents the principle that, given a helicoidal surround to a sound source, the proportion of sound intensity reradiation is a constant across the frequency spectrum. High frequency convex dome transducers were mounted on baffles of varying surrounding topographies. A principle was developed from research of the high-frequency transducer's sound radiation into a half space. The resulting theoretical equations were successfully used to design and manufacture various shapes of tweeter mounting plates. Some further applications of the principle are explored.
