With the introduction of CD-Video, the audio and video engineer finds himself confronted with the fact that he has to combine the NTBC or PAL video system with professional digital audio systems which are basically incompatible. The synchronization of there systems causes practical problems which can be overcome when the production and postproduction technique is adapted to the requirements of video with production technique is adapted to the requirements of video with digital audio in general and to CDV in particular. This paper describes the most important pitfalls and possible ways to avoid them. Also, it gives some background information about the CDV tape master specifications.
