An equalization method is presented based on deconvolution by an inverse filter estimated from a measured audio system response. The method allows the complete spectral, phase, and time domain system equalization and can be implemented in real time using F.I.R. digital filter whose structure is also discussed. Results are given for the performance of the method for the equalization of loudspeakers and acoustic enclosures, discussing specific design requirements for each case.
