Straightforward Determination of Loudspeaker Parameters Using a Nyquist Interpolation Process

Document Thumbnail

A new method for the measurement of loudspeaker driver parameters is presented. The method is based on the interpolation of the Nyquist diagram of the loudspeaker input impedance, measured with a two-channel FFT analyzer. The main advantage introduced by the method is that the same exciting signal is used for the determination of all loudspeaker parameters, including the voice coil electrical resistance. As a result, it is possible to obtain not only the standard low-level loudspeaker parameters, but also those corresponding to high-level exciting signals, which are closer to actual performance of the loudspeaker.
