A Desktop Optical Disk Digital Audio Recorder and Editor

Document Thumbnail

A desktop optical disk digital audio recording and editing system is discussed. The system, now in production for over a year, utilizes the most recent generation of 5-1/4 -in write-once optical disk drives. The media consists of inexpensive 400 megabyte removable optical disk cartridges. The recording system is based on a single board audio computer which supports digital signal processing, random access editing, and an interface for optional control from a personal computer or terminal. A digital interface to the Sony 1610/30 has been incorporated which allows all-digital transfers of audio to and from the system. Uses of the system have included audio archiving, sound effects, and home hi-fi, in addition to CD and LP mastering.
