Silicon Compiler Automates the Design and Layout of Integrated Circuit Audio Frequency Filters

Document Thumbnail

Improvements in CMOS process technology and sample data circuit design techniques have made the performance of integrated circuit audio frequency filters capable of high fidelity performance. This paper describes a switched capacitor filter compiler which accepts a system level filter specification and automatically synthesizes and simulates the filter, performs sensitivity analysis and does the physical layout of the Op-Amps, capacitors, and analog switch elements of the filter. The compiler implements Elliptic, Chebyshev, and Butterworth filters up to 20th order.
