Advances in DASH Format Multi-Channel Recording

The PCM-3348 is a 48-channel digital audio multitrack recorder based on the DASH double-density format for half-inch tape, and the first audio recorder to achieve such a large channel number and track density. In order to produce this machine on an industrial basis, a number of new technologies have been mobilized. These technical advances as well as their actual effect on recorder implementation will now be described.
