The design of magnetic recording devices for use as specific scientific tools occasionally leads to ideas which foster digressions to explore the adaptability of the basic principles for other applications. Such was the situation which brought about the development of the full track-width, dual channel magnetic record-reproduce head assembly which is the subject of this paper.
